Not only do I have a great admiration for Mr. Tolstoy, but I now have a great admiration for his characters. Through life, tragedy befalls all of us. But never has it been told with such elegance. I adore this book. It will be one of those books that I will read over and over again. I will never outgrow it, I will never be bored of it. It is a beautiful piece of literature and I am so happy my husband convinced me it was worth reading.
Anna Karenina taught me what an accomplished storyteller does. I am inspired and disheartened all at once. This is what writing is meant to be.

I heartedly agree. I am still trying to convince my husbamd to read it. Such depth of understanding of the male and female expressions of humanness, and such a profound exploration of what makes or breaks a marriage. If I could ever write a page with a fraction of Tolstoy's girt I would consider myself a success.
I couldn't agree more with you and elixer. He has an ability to build a character that is so real you wonder if you have met them before. This book is one of my absolute favorite books ever. I started reading it in the 9th grade and have now come back to it so many times I can't even count. If Indy had been born a boy she would have been named Levin and it is no mistake that her name is Indy-ana. Glad you are blogging and I look forward to further pondering.
Sufferingsummer! We were contemplating the name Levin for this next little man. Andrew wasn't sold but I love it. I really hope you might have a boy someday and name him Levin.
